Banana Island Development Project
2010 marks one hundred and ninety years of the settlement of descendants of slaves on Banana Islands. The principle occupation of the islanders are farming and fishing. Banana Island could be a health resort of which much use can be made. It is believed when the epidemic of influenza raged in 1918 at the end of WW1, it was only in Banana Island, so far as is known, that there were no deaths.

The spirit of adventure and pursuit of economic wealth has dwindled the population of Banana Island considerably. The Island is mostly inhabited by the elderly; younger people make crossings ever so often between the city and the dying Island. For the good of the people of Banana Island, in order to preserve the history, heritage and culture of the people, the Carlton-Carew EP Foundation has arisen to help rebuild Banana Island, with the help of others like you, this dream could be realized.

Our projects are: a Community Center, a museum and library of slavery, which is none existent in West Africa, a memorial wall of ancestors, to maintain a small health center, and primary school. Our major projects are the Community Center, Museum, Library, and Memorial Wall.
